Who We Are | About Our Pastor
Pastor Leonard Ross was born and raised in Chicago. He was changed by God forever on February 22, 1987. He has been married to Regina Ross for over 35 years. He is the father of 3 children and the Pastor of Bibleway Community Ministry for over the past 25 years. He worked in the Prison Ministry for five years. He is a committed follower of Jesus Christ for over 36 years and has been preaching the gospel for over 34 years. Leonard’s love for the gospel and belief in God's ability to change lives is grounded in truth and experience. His strong family values and wide range of life experiences have shaped his heart for the Lord and his passion for ministry.
Bibleway Community Ministry was started in 1995 in the living room of his home. Since then, we have occupied a 1,200 SF building in Englewood, where we worshipped for over 25 years. We have preached the gospel, taught the Word of God, and tried to be a light to the community around us. We are a Non-denominational, Bible-believing church that is enthusiastic about spreading the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the Burnham Community! We are exceedingly excited for the opportunity!
Bibleway Community Ministry continues to be that beacon of hope in the community, and we believe the 14148 S. Green-Bay Ave site in Burnham will be great in helping us continue to get out the good news of Jesus Christ. The place may seem small to some, but it is perfect for the next level of our journey that God is taking us on. We continue to focus on the salvation we have in Jesus Christ. We believe the church can continue to be a strong pillar in the Burnham community for years to come.
We believe Scripture is the inspired words of God, authoritative, and without error. We believe that the scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are designed for our practical instruction in faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21). We believe that the Godhead eternally exists in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit; and that these three are one God. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came into the world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. To this end, He was born of a virgin, received a human body and a sinless human nature without ceasing to be God. We believe this salvation is a gift of God’s grace, appropriated through faith alone in the Lord, Jesus Christ. This faith is a gift of divine grace and is not simply knowledge of Jesus Christ, but is an act of personal trust accompanied by the miracles of regeneration and justification, leading to sanctification and glorification. We believe that every believer receives grace from God in the form of a spiritual gift, which enables him to function as a member of the body of Christ (Ephesian 2:8-9). We believe that no one can enter the kingdom of God unless born again spiritually and that the new birth of the believer comes only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe, also, that our redemption has been accomplished by the grace of God, an unmerited gift, given in love by God and not the result of any human works (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Titus 3:4–7).
We believe that local churches, such as Bibleway Community Ministry, gather together for practical instruction in the scriptures, for fellowship with God and with other believers, and for corporate witness to the unsaved world. Our common spiritual goal is to grow toward Christ’s likeness. We believe that all believers should seek to walk by the Spirit, separating themselves from worldly practices and witnessing by life and by word the truths of the Holy Scripture. We believe that all believers will be judged at the judgment seat of Christ and rewarded based on their faithful obedience to Him in this life. We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the Gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning unbelievers to condemnation with eternal conscious punishment and believers to eternal joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth. We believe that all believers who die are in the presence of the Lord, although their bodies will be resurrected at the second coming of Christ. Unbelievers who die eventually will be resurrected to face final judgment and eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11–15).
